Natalie Pinela,
school principal
Background Informarion- Hi, I am a school principal from Chicago, Illinois I am also a delegate. I am 39 years old and I was born on October 2, 1971. My parents were born in California, my dad was born in Los Angles and my mom was born in San Francisco. they met in Stanford University and got married soon after collage. My dad became a professor at Stanford and my mom became a preschool teacher. When they were both 30, they had my only sibling, my older sister, Margret. When Margret was six, they moved to Detroit, Michigan and had me a year after at 37. Throughout my life, both my sister and I went to public schools. Margret hated school but I always loved school and early on, I knew I wanted to do something inside of a school community when I grew up. In high school, I applied to Central Michigan University and later found out that I got accepted. That is where I ended up going for collage and I met a man named Jack and when we were 30 years old, we got married. After we got married, we had our first child, Anna. When Anna was 2 years old, we had our second child, Taylor. When I was 34, Jack, Anna, Taylor, and I moved to Chicago, Illinois where we lived in a small "salt box" house. Anna abd Taylor got baptized in our Catholic church just a few blocks away.
Work History- A year after I goot out of collage, I became a
5th grade teacher from 22 to 33 in Lancing, Michigan. At 33, I went back to
collage for a Masters Degree. At 35, I was working as an assistant principal in
Chicago, Illinois. Once the pincipal retired in the summer of 2009, I came back
in 2010 at 37 as the new school principal. In my school, I supervise 19 teachers
and a total of 403 kids. I help develop curriculum and help teachers be the best
they can be so that the children have the best school expirience that they can
have; just like I did. I ensure the children's saftey and I am always giving and
patient to anyone that needs help or is having a hard time. As you can tell, I
have been hired for a lot of jobs yet I have not yet been fired, or have I been
to jail.

Political Beleifs- Both my husband and I are strong democrats.
My dad was a republican and my mom was a democrat. As I grew older, I found that
I did not agree with my father's veiws as much as my mother's. My political
views are that each school should offer the same opportunities and education no
matter where the school is located and no matter if you are high class, middle
class, or low class. I want this for not only Chicago, but the whole country. I
believe that all students should have access to hands on expiriences and that
the government should invest more money in to giving each scool the same amount
of technology so that each student can have access to more recorces making more
intellegent people for the next generation. I belong to the National Associatin
of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the American Association of School
Administraters (AASA). In those organizations, we provide profesional
development and recorces to make a brighter tomorrowoo
