Billy Dobensky, Maine Lobsteman
I am a 30 year old lobsterman born and raised in Maine. I am currently a working as a lobsterman, living on the coast of Maine in Portland. I have been working as a Lobsterman since I was 19 and dropped out of high school to support my family with money. Although the conditions can be rough, like getting up at 4 or 5 in the morning,I still love my job. I have a great job to be the captain of my boat Aye Sea U, and to be the fleet captain at the LBC ( The Lobster Boat Club.) I am also a delegate of Maine. I support the some of the many ideas of having a good environment, good transportation, good oil supply, adding recreational areas ,and education, . I belive that having a healthy environment is good beause it creates a lot of jobs. If the sea is polluted, all of the Lobster and other sea creatures would die off, losing the jobs of a lot of people. I also support good transportation because after a day of hauling lobsters, we load them onto a truck that delivers them to a store. If we do not have that good transportation, then we would not have our lobsters delivered freshly. I yet also like having good oil prices. I use oil for my boat and my car and it can cost a lot of money. I belive that if we use our oil resources in the United States, the cost of oil would be a lot lower. For example, we get some of our oil from foriegn countries, and they can sell the oil to us for a high price. We would have to buy the oil no matter what because we need oil for everyday uses. Recreational areas are becomeing scarcer everyday. I belive that if maine adds more recreactional areas, it will not only help save wildlife, it would attract tourist too. If we can get more people to visit Maine, then All of these conceps are what many of our fellow east coast citizens need to keep their job.
